The visit of the Korean-African Center delegation to GRC

In the context of the Global Relations Center's strategy of reinforcing its foreign relations, it has received, on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, in coordination with the Council of Ministers, a delegation from the Korean-African Center, headed by Il Soo Kim, the Executive Director of the Center, accompanied by three of his assistants. They were welcomed by the Director in charge of the GRC, Mr. Alamin A. Ibrahim. The program included a full review of all the activities carried out at the Center, its objectives, protocols and MOUs signed with some international think tanks, in addition to the protocols under study.

Mr. Kim hoped that the Korean-African Center would largely contribute in the investment projects in Sudan and obtain sufficient information that would strengthen the economic cooperation between the two countries. He mentioned that the Korean Center has been founded two years ago, aiming to open up to the African continent and to introduce the Korean people to Africa, stressing that they are keen on encouraging trade and economic cooperation in Sudan.

It is worth mentioning that Mr. Kim headed the Korean diplomatic missions in: Israel, Kazakhstan and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Director of the Studies and Research section at the GRC discussed the possibility of cooperation between the two centers in all related fields. He said that the GRC has strong relations with Sudanese businessmen, explaining the ways of helping the KAC in this regard. Mr. Kim affirmed that they had signed many memorandums of understanding in Africa (with Uganda, Ethiopia, Ghana and Rwanda), noting that they will organize an investment conference for African businessmen, which will be held in October in Seoul, Korea, hoping that Sudanese businessmen will take part of this event.

The Director of the GRC thanked the Korean delegation for their visit and assured the cooperation between the two centers in the related fields. He gave them some GRC publications to get more information about the activities of the centre.
